The suburban home, the car, the garage, and the clutter within, all speak to middle class life in America. In a country altered to cater to the needs of the car over the past century, the single-family home allocates the garage as a space dedicated to the car. It differs from the rest of the house in that it is uncurated and honest, typically hidden from guests and scarcely visited by residents. Exposed pipes, wooden beams, unpainted drywall are revealed in the garage, and, occasionally, engine components are laid bare as well. While the rest of the house is the most lived-in, the garage is the most blunt representation of American consumption and the fetish surrounding the car.
